History Of The ATV Club |
Following the recommendations passed at the meetings, ELATV was formed in March 2000, and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation two months later.
Soon after incorporation, ELATV proceeded to develop partnerships with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Doctor Ltd., North Shore Forest Inc., and several independent forest resource companies to map out and develop a trail network in the area and identify potential future trails.
The club’s first major activity was the Trail Rider Poker Run in august 2000, sponsored by Trail Rider magazine. Attracting participants from throughout the province and the United States, the poker run had two purposes – to boost awareness of the club and ATV sports, and to raise money for trail development.
Our club has received its share of widespread media attention. Following the poker run and selection of Elliot Lake to host the OFATV annual general meeting, a production team from the Outdoor Life Network visited Elliot Lake and produced a segment for ATV Adventure Television . Shot during the fall colour season, it promoted various lodges and businesses in the area.
